Federal and State Historic Preservation Regulations

What Is It?

Gettysburg Train Station

When federal dollars or permits are used to fund projects that may have an effect on a building or structures eligible to or listed in the National Register of Historic Places, familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act is essential. To avoid long delays, potential fines and unnecessary red tape, knowledge of the Act and the required steps for acquiring permits is critical—it can mean a successful development, historic rehabilitation, or careful review and mitigation of adverse impact on a historic resource.
